I've previously seen a machine gun mounted on a remote control robot. Last night, I saw a competition to fully automate vehicles. They are programmed where to go via Global Positioning System and can automatically navigate obstacles. I believe this was funded by the USA department of "defence".
Using Iraq as an example, my concern is that the risk of coalition casualties provides a disincentive against invading countries, particularily when the coalition has a leader who lies and is corrupted by personal finanical interests.
People claim that the "enemy" is not fighting according to the "rules of war". I'd say that the use of automated killing machines dosn't either.
When you have automated killing machines, don't you give the enemy the incentive to use WMD's ?
