A Bush Sr. screwup about Panama, wanting to oust Noriega, calling for a coup there, and that happened but failed. Lot of bad press ensued. Then Barr came in with an 'opinion' on law that said the FBI could go into any country in the world and kidnap the leader and bring him to 'justice' in the US, specifically thinking about phase two of the Panama coup. So he testified in congress and used the exact same wording as his so-called summary of Mueller.
He said then, I can't give you the 'opinion'. I can however give you the summary......
And lo and behold, he white washed it, looking like he wanted to push through the idea of the US being legally allowed to kidnap any world leader on the planet and bring them to trial in the US.
The thing was, he said it was only an opinion on domestic law and that was it.
What came out 2 years later was in fact a scathing comment on the idea, talking about international law and political downsides to such an action.

So then he sends that memo to Trump, his job application where he said a sitting POTUS cannot be charged and so forth. Trump goes, HE'S MY GUY.
So now he is doing the exact same thing which will be very clear Thursday when the redacted report comes out. My only question is will the redactions be 60% or up to 90% of the report. It is abundantly clear Barr intends to protect Trump no matter what happens to his reputation which is already in the toilet. He is a two faced liar and a clear Trump toady.

I saw this on Rachel Maddow last night.
Looks like Barr's apple hasn't fallen far from the tree of his past.

I'm unconvinced that Barr will redact much of the report. But if he does, it will be politically damaging to Trump and the Republicans - the public by an overwhelming margin wants the entire report released.

However much is released tomorrow, the way Trump has been screeching again, I'm pretty certain it's going to worse for him than Barr's 4 page non-summary made it seem.

How can I possibly know the answer to that? Tell me what is in the report and I'll let you know.

IF there is Grand Jury material in the report:

Attorney General Barr could ask the court overseeing the grand jury to release the 6(e) information to the House judiciary committee because the information fits within the exception that allows release “preliminarily to or in connection with a judicial proceeding”—citing the potential for impeachment proceedings as being akin to a judicial proceeding.

    https://www.lawfareblog.com/mueller-report-redactions-will-congress-ever-see-all-mueller-grand-jury-material

IF there is Grand Jury material in the report, Barr should petition the court to do so. The Attorney General is the People's lawyer, not one of Donald Trump's defense attorneys like Barr is acting like.

Marauder........ Would you have wanted Eisenhower to release his plans to invade Normandy ? I guess you would have. Do you think all government information should be laid out for us and the world to see.? What if there is a paragraph in Mueller report about developing a secret atom bomb. Just a question. You liberals need to settle down.

I’m getting my popcorn popped, ready to sit down and watch the great news tomorrow that will prove, as the Washington Post said today, that Fox News was right all along

You watch Rachel Maddow. Quality stuff. I bet that Today she did not inform her viewers that the Washington Post, a liberal newspaper, admitted that Fox News was right all along. Right all along. So were Whodey, Matt the Hoopie and other solid Americans in this thread.

Google how far ahead FOX is over CNN and MSNBC, ....about 300%. Now you know why.

The Washington Post "admitted" no such thing. A conservate named Gary Abernathy wrote an opinion piece in the paper making that ridiculous claim but it is not the position of the paper's editorial board. Get real.

A report on the Trump campaign's scheming with Russians to help Donald Trump get elected and Trump's many measures to obstruct justice and interfere with the probe is hardly the equivalent of secret military plans.

I see no reason why any information relating to those things should be suppressed.

I would think Obama administration spying on opposing candidates to influence who becomes President of 350 Million people is pretty dam important. And Get real? I think ‘real’ would be for liberals to understand that the law requires such redactions. Libs are so unhappy and disappointed, that Trump did Not collude with Russians, that y’all are looking for anything to complain about. You Want your President to go thru hell. And Barr? He is simply quoting the Mueller report. You hate him too?

Maybe the politicians should start communicating on this forum, so we can ‘Collectively ‘ all run things? BTW, Comrade Cortez is after Trump again, for giving Veterans a medical choice. Why do y’all want to do away with choice?. (Socialism): And What is it with her weird fingers floating around at the end of her wrists?
