I've got a feeling they won't see 2009 out, after giving SS experiment camp a release in 2008 it's just a matter of time..Obviously some other rating system will be put in place but hopefully not a draconian one like the BBFC.
Do you think the UK public need censorship?

No. But the people who have been working as censors should retrain and be redeployed as providers of information and guidance about the content of films so that individuals are able to self-censor in an informed way.

That doesn't surprise me, the UK has always had censors, for example recently I noticed that for some reason the bbc news didn't mention the riots in greece (while other news channels did).

Yes, obviously. Otherwise you could have things like child porn and snuff films on television.

Suppose the broadcast of child porn would be legal. Why on Earth would any broadcaster broadcast it?

Yes, broadcasting a blue screen 24/7 is also legal, yet no one does it because people don't like to watch that.

The blue screen is not supposed to be watched.

you can't compare the blue screen with an actual tv programme.

I didn't mean "blue screen" in any metaphoric sense, I'm arguing that while a lot of things can be legally broadcasted they won't be because because people don't like to watch them.

Because utterly boring programs get bad ratings, otherwise people would simply not connect their TV and watch the blank screen.

This is not a matter of censorship. Both of those are crimes i.e. murder and pedophilia, so if they were to be screened the broadcaster would be party to those crimes.
