Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) called for a new world order on Tuesday - one that does away with state sovereignty. Speaking at an event at Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies, the former presidential candidate dreamed of a world where we could all enjoy "shared prosperity."

"It is time for us to stand up and say there is a better way to use our wealth," Sanders declared. "In closing let me simply state, in order to effectively to combat the pluses of global oligarchy and authoritarianism, we need an international movement that mobilizes behind a vision of shared prosperity, security and dignity for all people and that addresses the massive global inequality that exists not only in wealth, but in political power."

    He offered more wisdom:

"We must take the opportunity to reconceptualize a global order based on human solidarity, based on the understanding that it’s not me against you or the United States against China, but that we as the world especially with the threat of climate chance are in it together, that in many ways we are going to survive by working together or we’re going to go down by the types of divisions that the authoritarians are trying to create. We need a new order that recognizes that every person on this planet shares a common humanity that we all want our children to grow up healthy, to have a good education, to have decent jobs, to drink clean water, to breathe clean air and to live in peace. Our job is to reach out to those in every corner of the world who share these values and will fight with us for a better world. Authoritarians seek power by promoting division and hatred. We will promote unity, inclusive and love. In a time of exploiting wealth in technology we have on this planet the potential to create a decent life for all people. Our job is to build on our common humanity and to do everything that we can to oppose all of courses where the unaccountable government’s power or unaccountable corporate power who try to divide us up based on the color of our skin, the country we were born in, our religion, our sexual orientation, our gender, who try to divide us up in every way possible and to set us each against each other. We know that those forces are working today across national borders and we must do the same and create an international progressive community that stands for social, economic, racial and religious justice for all. Thank you very much."

This kind of progressive, socialist agenda has also been encouraged by young leaders like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the young progressive who pulled off that stunning upset in New York against incumbent Rep. Joe Crowley. Included in her platform is the need for single payer health care, Medicare for all, and calls to abolish ICE. Her agenda would cost $40 trillion and she's not sure how to pay for it. It's no wonder why mainstream Democrats like House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi have tried to downplay her victory.

I find it interesting that Bernie paints those who wish to maintain national sovereignty as the fascist aggressors, while those who favor the wet dream of every fascist/communist dictator in world history of a one world order as non-fascist and saintly

But those who understand socialism, understand that world domination is the goal. Nothing else will do.

Could you please point to the part where Bernie talks about doing away with "national sovereignty"?

    Thanks.

Yes, it's far better to lie about Mexico paying for a border wall, and invite high ranking Russians into the oval office to give them America's most valuable intel. than for encouraging countries to work together for the good of their citizens. What what Bernie thinking anyway??!!

"The Donald" is much smarter than that. 🙄

Bernie, as far as I know, doesn't want open borders.

I do. and yes, national sovereignty can chucked in history's garbage bin.

He says that divisions account for authoritarian types.

How can you have national sovereignty in countries around the world and no division? Divisions will naturally occur. To force all divisions to cease, you would have to place power under one world government.

I doubt that there is any data showing "most Americans apparently regard China as their eternal enemy." even if that is what you were taught in your Red Guard education camps. US polls are divided; some show a majority of Americans have a favorable view of China (https://www.google.com/search?q=red+guard&oq=red+guard&aqs=chrome..69i57j0l5.3063j1j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8) or, at this time, a plurality have an unfavorable view though not a majority (http://www.pewglobal.org/2018/08/28/as-trade-tensions-rise-fewer-americans-see-china-favorably/).

I see no polling data on whether Americans regard China as an "eternal enemy" though I doubt that number is higher than those who simply have an "unfavorable" view of the country (at present, as the links show this has fluctuated over time).

Well right now China is busy building islands and war ships in the Pacific.

I reckon Bernie wants them to play nice and be friends.

I'm pretty sure that Bernie was fixated on such things as global warming and global welfare programs when he said what he said. And I'm pretty sure that if all countries don't agree with his vision of what needs to be done in regards to climate change and global pots of money to be redistributed to the poor are neo-Nazi tyrants.

    Grammar alert, whodey.

In order to keep from losing track of what you're saying, perhaps shorter sentences could help you. Only telling one lie at a time might help, too.
