Biden: American Imperialism and Cold War as Usual

Debates

I can just just imgine you whoop whooping bring back Trump rather than The Biden admins imperialist foreign policy. You are slightly misrepresenting the 2 biggest so called soft authoritian regimes with the illusion of democracy "as Usual". Xi is hardly less unilateral ,even if he asks America and others to be.

Note that Biden wants to bring the US back into the fold on the Iran nuclear deal and the Paris accord.

Yup. I’m so well known for admiring and condoning US imperialism...

🙄

@Duchess64
All of this starts to make sense once you realize that the military controls the US politicians of both parties, not the other way around. The politicians are nothing more than salesmen for the for-profit military as well as for-profit health care.
That's why they, and the news media they control, so swiftly demolished Tulsi Gabbard who bravely tried to expose the massive corruption of the military industry.

The hawks and neocons hardly seem "appeased" by Biden's commitment to restore the Iran nuclear deal: https://www.nationalreview.com/2021/04/the-biden-administrations-fact-free-frenzy-to-restart-the-iran-nuclear-deal/

This is a gross mischaracterization of Biden's Iran policy.

Biden is committed to return to the Iran deal (one he had a leading part in negotiating) but it can't be done unilaterally because Iran has acted beyond the terms of the deals after the US withdrew from it (justifiably so). Getting back the original terms requires actions on both sides which the administration is set to negotiate with Iran's leaders starting last week in Vienna. https://www.wsj.com/articles/iran-nuclear-deal-talks-advance-as-u-s-offers-sanctions-relief-11619024783

Inside reports from both their times in the Obama administration contradict your claim:

"Time and again in President Barack Obama's Situation Room, Clinton and Biden split over where, when, and how to deploy American military force, with Clinton typically advocating a more hawkish line and Biden playing the dove."

Of course, Biden is unlikely to reformulate US policy totally to the Left's liking but he's off to a promising start including a commitment to withdraw all troops from Afghanistan by September (something that it is hard to believe HRC would have done in her first year, if ever).

Perhaps my phrasing was unclear; when I said "justifiably so" I meant Iran was justified in their actions after the US left the agreement, not that the US was justified in leaving it.
