Yeah, at first I was convinced her nomination was a stupid mistake by McCain, but I was totally wrong. She brought the base home to McCain in a way that he could never have done for himself, and all this talk by the Dems about her lack of experience just boomerangs right back to a discussion of Obama's true neophyte status. It was a stroke of genius.

She does not negotiate policy concerning the rights or entitlements of other governments. That job belongs solely to the Federal Government. Whaling is regulated by the Federal Government (an MMPA permit is required). Drilling for oil is regulated by the Federal Government. River and Timber rights of Canada do not extend into the borders of the U.S., and disputes over tariffs on lumber are negotiated by the Federal Department of Commerce and overseen by the U.S. Court of International Trade. Alaska's interests in these matters are formally represented by its elected Federal representatives, not by Governor Palin.

Here's the whole quote from Huffington Post...

"Pray for our military men and women who are striving to do what is right. Also, for this country, that our leaders, our national leaders, are sending [U.S. soldiers] out on a task that is from God," she exhorted the congregants. "That's what we have to make sure that we're praying for, that there is a plan and that that plan is God's plan."

She's not saying that its a mission from God, but merely that we should pray that what we do is according to God's plan. Nice how you left that last bit off there No1.

Perhaps you are taking your cues from AP journalists. This is how they start their article...

I gave the link which has both parts (not exactly being "dishonest" like Bush was). The second part is not related to the first; that's just right wing spin. She clearly says that our soldiers are on a "task from God". The second statement retracts or adds nothing to that.

Once people realize how extreme her views are (she thinks victims of rape and/or incest should face criminal sanctions if they have an abortion; that's too far out even for Cindy McCain) her positive ratings will plummet. And a careful reading of her speech shows that her economic policies (and McCain's) are no different from Bush's, which are now firmly rejected by the majority of Americans.

Baloney. I watched the video and I understood what she said. The part you left off clearly qualifies the part you want to focus on, follows it directly, and makes no sense if you try to take it by itself. That's exactly dishonest.

You're full of it as most right wingers are. There is nothing contradictory about saying our troops are "on a task from God" in Iraq AND saying it's "part of God's plan". The second part makes perfect sense alone to anyone not a complete idiot.

Osama says his troops are on a "task from God" and fulfilling God's plan, too. Palin's a mirror image.

Dude, read the WHOLE THING, in order, taking into account the meaning of the words "also" and "that's". Her phrasing is a bit hinky because she was speaking extemporaneously, but it's obvious to any HONEST listener what she meant.
