Do peolpe in general prefer being the white pieces and having the first move or do most people like being the black pieces & letting their opponent
move first and try to gage their tactics.


Any thoughts anyone?

I prefer white or black over my "Simpsons" chess board colours which drove me mad, any day.

Bright green, bright yellow and bright blue. Especially when stoned. It was a nightmare and nobody could figure out what way the board was supposed to go or what colour was supposed to be white. If any.

If they're anything like me, they would rather be gray, having both the ability to move first, as well as reducing the stress and pressure of having to make that first move.
Were it possible, someone should come up with a variation of chess, wherein all the pieces were gray, matching exactly the shade of the squares.
That'd be cool.

My record is actually better playing black. I guess that just demonstrates how weak my opening game is.

Someone, I don't remember who, some famous chess player I guess, once said that in amateur chess black has the advantage. Why? Because white has the first chance to blunder.

I am way more comfortable with white, and I like white better, and I know more openings with white, and I would choose white anyday over black

the only problem is that my record of winning on black is way bigger. I dont know why. Maybe its because I dont know many openings on black

you know your really stoned when you stare at the board (in a face to face game) for an hour without moving because you both forgot whose turn it was!😵
