Good to know in hindsight, but not so easy when it was years ago they got Boing Boing to make the"starliner'. Not a great idea in restrospect.
Now they are not even trusting it to bring home our two recently launched astronauts home, they are going to have to stay till next February for a ride on the known Dragon of Musk fame.
So many helium leaks they found on it they are afraid there will be incorrect thruster levels to keep the craft properly oriented when it gets pedal to the metal and if off by just a few degrees the heat shield takes a dump and the whole thing comes in as the newest meteorite.
It might in fact come down just fine but the NASA uppers do not want to take the chance with humans aboard, after the two Shuttle disasters.

And if there's no need for life support, no one can tell if the oxygen fails on the way down or not.

It better bring up two spacesuits also, as the Boeing suits are incompatible with SpaceX's. Genius move there.

@Suzianne
Well the big deal is the helium used somehow for the thrusters, not sure how, maybe cooling stuff, they mentioned seals failing from too high temperatures.
having to do with thrusters that guides the proper attitude when the heat shield hits the upper atmosphere, if you exceed the proper entry angle the craft is tilted where some of the super hot plasma could bore through the craft turning it into a meteorite.
O2 has different kinds of piping, not so critical as helium used in thrusters, but if the helium leaks out too much there won't be enough to the job it needs for the thrust rockets, my guess is cooling, one our helium compressors gets down to ten degrees Kelvin, close to absolute zero for a high vacuum pump, I can explain how that works but the gist is helium is hard to keep from leaking so when they suspect the leaks come from overheating seals, it may leak out to much to be able to enter the atmosphere at the right angle to have the heat shield do its job so they opted to drive it home unmanned. It may turn out it works fine in spite of the helium leaks but they don't want to chance it. So the crew of 2 gets about a 6 month extension in their trip.
And down home on a Dragon from Musk world.

DEI at its finest

Diversity, equality and inclusion has something to do with fuuukups by Boing Boing? The real problem was being taken over and piss poor quality control used for a LOT of their products besides the Starliner. Doors falling off aircraft, landing tires flying off, there are some CEO's in serious need of being fired.

shyt like that happens where you hire based on sexual preference, color of skin, etc instead of ability

Here you go again, claiming no minorities (POC or women) can do the job, only white men. Sorry, Cletus, I've seen some white people who were far worse at their job than any person of color. PoC always tend to pay attention when being trained, while white people come with attitude thinking they already know the job.

I didn’t claim that…why are you lying?

It's the inferred claim, that you think you're getting away with. You're dog whistling.

Simple as that.

Does it comfort you somehow to think you are superior to all these choices, by merit of your skin color? Really?
