It's tragically amusing to see how the cult of the Founding Fathers gets some US citizens all foamy at the mouth with made-up quotations intended to prove that the Fathers were on their side. Of course these quotations do nothing more than expose said citizens as egregious liars, on the one hand, while egging on their dunder-headed fellow travelers, on the other.
Here is an article about this phenomenon. It's a bit one-sided, though. Surely not only Republicans mendaciously attribute false quotations to the Founding Fathers? What say our resident elephants?
