Sorry for the long link.
According to the complaint filed with the school district, the Bible contains too much violence, sex, and vulgarity for primary schoolers.
@moonbus saidAre kids really posting up with the unabridged bible for their independent reading time in elementary school?

I mean, I understand the idea that the bible has worse stuff in it than many books conservatives want to ban, but I dont think banning the bible from elementary school is the best way to make that point. No one reads it.
@moonbus
Well for better or worse, I attended a private religious school K-8, El Monte Lutheran church and school and you can imagine what we had to read in religious texts.
It helped me to see just how stupid religions are, the modern organized versions.
Power grabs is what they are.
@metal-brain saidGod told the Hebrews to massacre the Caananites and steal their land, so I guess incest is the lesser of those evils.
@wildgrass
God must approve of incest.

@wildgrass saidI agree, I doubt elementary school kids are at all likely to read all of it. One would have thought a sanitized version of the Bible, with the offensive bits edited out, could have been produced for elementary school children.

Oh, wait, it’s the inerrant Word of God. Not allowed to alter so much as one letter of it. I think I see the problem …
@wildgrass saidWhy does Wildgrass say no one reads the Bible.? Trying to begin a fight based upon a lie?

Wildgrass, do you WANT to lose cred in the Forum?
@averagejoe1 saidFew read the Bible in its entirety. Most just cherry pick.

For example, tell the average Christian that God sent bears to kill a group of unruly teenagers and they will flatly deny such a thing is recorded in the Bible.

It is your lie to suggest that 6 year olds are reading the Bible during their library time in elementary school.
@ghost-of-a-duke saidSay, are those bears for hire? There are some unruly teenagers in my neighbourhood.

@wildgrass saidThey may be trying the observe equal protection. But I agree, no one reads it, which should make it all moot. Maybe?
