Bravo?
Or is it in the best interests of reaching a peace settlement that Israel continues to build on occupied land?

This was exactly what I meant in Thread 127946!

I too say Bravo USA!
This was exactly what I meant in Thread 127946!
As a comparison:
FMF: Gave a one sentence concise summary of the story
FabianFnas: Just said that Israel was criticized; didn't refer to about what
FMF: posted a link
FabianFnas: no link
FMF: proposed a question for debate
FabianFnas: posted only a condescending rhetorical question (will they ever learn?) with a blanket conclusion ("illegal actions" )
FMF: Used basically neutral terminology
FabianFnas: Used the incendiary and offensive term "criminal state"
FMF: Accentuated the positive (Bravo, USA)
FabianFnas: Accentuated the negative (Israel criticized)
For what it's worth, I agree that announcing the new construction while Biden was literally there at the time to try to jumpstart peace talks was a reckless and stupid thing to do. I also agree that for the sake of peace, settlement expansion should be halted immediately; at least pending a real attempt at reaching a settlement. If a real attempt is made and talks break down though, then it's business as usual.
Originally posted by FMFNo, I don't think it's in the best interest of the Peace process to continue building settlements. It's quite the opposite.

Lets see what the response is? Or can we already tell?

maybe Biden's recent disaster in Israel will have a bright side, if the Obama team summons up enough moxie to take on the Israeli lobby.
if the US doesn't put some teeth into it i think the Israelis will just waffle a bit then go back to same game.
