The Wall Street occupiers should also tout bringing the troops home. We won the cold war by outspending Russia and making her go broke. Somehow we did not go broke but since then our policies and corporate greed have driven us to the brink of major financial ruin and a hatred for our country by people around the world. Instead of rebuilding our infrastructure, we our continuing to rebuild other nations after instituting regime change. Libya was a nice exception. We killed Osama and crippled Al Qeida and the Taliban; we can leave Iraq and Afghanistan instead of spending billions and wasting the lives of our valuable troops on nations that don't want us there. The latest suicide bombing and the Seal Team 6 losses are just the latest examples. Will it take another Viet Nam era organized protest to do this? It seems our president is a great orator, but what he sayss and what happens are two different things. Agree or disagree and give your viewpoints.

    They do.

The myth that the West "won the Cold War" because of military spending that "broke" the Soviet Union is a persistent if rather silly one.
