Here is an article by Robert Kennedy Jr.
http://www.commondreams.org/views05/0223-25.htm

For those that don't know, Robert Kennedy Jr. is the son of assissinated presidential canidate Robert Kennedy and nephew of assassinated President John F. Kennedy. Robert Kennedy Jr. is an environmental advocate and obviously a bit left leaning. That said, how do all of you Bush-or-else people feel about his environmental policies.

Personally, I don't think that he has an environmental policy, but that is neither here nor there.

I think he is a hypocrite. He wouldn't allow wind turbines on Martha's vineyard, rides around in a big ass SUV, cruises around in a private jet. Seems to me that he thinks its alright for me and you to conserve energy but not him.

When Robert F. Kennedy Jr., son of assassinated presidental candiate Robert F. Kennedy Sr. (that and $1.25 will get you a 16 oz. coffee at your local 7-11), ditches his private plane and his SUVs, and starts going around either by bicycle or electric car, or even (gasp) walking, then he can lecture the rest of us about how we're destroying the environment with our SUVs.

As an example of the great environmental record of Democrats, when Bill Clinton left office, one of his last acts as President (along with all of the pardons) was to "lower" the amount of arsenic in drinking water. I don't know the exact #s, but if, for example, drinking water is allowed to have 16 parts-per-billion of arsenic, Clinton signed an Exec Order stating that this standard should be lowered to 8 parts per billion. Again, this was in an executive order signed during his last day as President.

After Bush took office and reviewed some of these orders, he immediately rescinded this order, leaving the arsenic standards exactly where they had been during the entire Clinton adminisration (as well as many years prior to that). So what do the Democrats do? They run political ads claiming that Bush 'raised the level of arsenic in our children's drinking water'. Complete and utter Barbara Streisand.

Again, I don't know the exact parts per billion that comprise the current standard, but Clinton basically 'ordered' that this be cut in half...apparently he wanted this done overnight...

When I was in 6th Grade (1972) our class did a huge project on ecology and the environment. They brought in 'experts' to lecture us on these issues, and we were told that by the time we graduated from high school (1978) we would need GAS MASKS just to go outside of our homes and play. As you probably know, it never quite happened that way. Seems like these same doom-and-gloom'ers are still running the show for the Democrats...

Also, RFK Jr better watch himself, talking about Christian principles the way his does in this article. I thought his fellow Dems didn't want that kind of talk on their side of the aisle. Dems certainly don't want RFK Jr. to shove his beliefs down their collective throats, do they?

And I'm glad that RFK Jr. is more afraid of a bunch of food producing companies than his is of Osama bin Laden. Yes, they're the real enemy, all right. Gee, I wonder why Democrats can't seem to win any elections these days...

LOL Once again I will explain to you that I am not a Democrat, nor am I interested in what Bill did. I am more interested in the future. Are you aware of the Roadless Rule? The rule that closed the national forests to logging and oil exploration where no current road exists. You probably lived huddle together with a million other people or you would care more about the environment than Osama Bin Laden. I really don't fear terrorist attack from anyone. I do, however, fear for the future of our wilderness. Call me a tree hugger or whatever you want, but I believe healthy forests make for healthy planets and healthy creatures living on them. As I live on this one I care to keep it as nice as I can. I'm sure that I am a hypocrit right along with RKjr. I have a pick up truck and don't recycle as much as I guess I should. This does not mean that I am willing to chuck the whole thing. Take a good look at the Clean Air Act (that's a good one 😉 )

In typical Bushian fashion you failed to answer the question. You pointed your finger at everyone else and blamed them. So am I to assume that you are all for Mr. Bush's evironmental policies. My President Right or Wrong (as long as he is from the right). It is no wonder that the once great nation of the United States has become a nation of fat, lazy, barely literate boobs. I am not calling you a boob, I am just saying that not questioning the qoings on of your government is ignorant. The temptation to feather your nest with contribution from the ultra rich lobbyists is too strong.

I understand that Bush is your boy, but I really can't believe that you agree with everything the man (as a personification of the government) does.

So I will ask you this; Do you think that Bush is doing anything to improve the environment. If so, what?

I know you have said you yoursef are not a Democrat, my comments were directed more at Kennedy himself...

As far as what Bush has done for the environment, I'll let RFK himself tell us...

"Five years ago, if you asked the leaders of the major environmental groups in America, What's the gravest threat to the global environment?, they would have given you a range of answers: overpopulation, habitat destruction, global warming. Today, they will all tell you one thing: it's George W. Bush."

I guess overpopulation, habitat destruction and global warming are less of a threat than they were five years ago...now, it's just one man we have to worry about. W...

And RFK Jr claims that "I've been disciplined during that period about being nonpartisan in my approach to this issue."

Yeah. And I should believe everything else HE says, after making a claim like that?

I think that:

1) there is too much of a tendancy to blame the U.S. and only the U.S. for every environmental 'problem' in the world. The legendary Sean Penn is over in Iran right now, and he's complaining about how polluted the air is over there..geez, and here I thought that the U.S. is the only country with air pollution out there...

2) I think the extreme environmentalist movement is really making man a little bit more powerful than he is...I'm not convinced that we are powerful enough to destroy the environment. Nature itself is pretty powerful. A lot of people get all bent out of shape if there's an oil spill, and we're shown video of cute little birds covered with oil, etc. But the amount of oil that seeps into the ocean from beneath the ocean floors completely dwarfs any amount of oil man could ever spill from one ship... that big oil spill in the Pacific NW in the early 90's (Exxon Valdez, I think it was)...we were told it would take decades for that area to recover...it didn't (take decades).

But honestly, I'll take a look at the 400 'rollbacks' of environmental law Kennedy claims that Bush has made...I wonder if arsenic levels in water is listed, I haven't checked...I've gotta get to the office now...

Talk to you later...have a good one!
