It is time for the BWA-Ivory Tower Coalition to announce its endorsement for President of the United States. But first let me say that we called it correctly four years ago when we predicted Bush would (not should) be elected. We accurately pointed out the reasons he would be re-elected.
We endorse Obama for the Democratic nomination and the general election. The stock market matters more than Bin Laden. Well informed and connected Republicans in the oil industry have not served us well. People will elect the democrat because they care more about sub-prime lenders than terrorists. They will be more inclined to remember what they paid at the gas pump than how many people voted in the Iraqi election. They will pay more attention to the deficit than the $600 rebate checks they will receive.
So, in short, support Obama.

However. The election is rigged (as it was in 2000 and 2004) and the republiswines are going to win.

After all, its the Democratic Party that doesn't want to count all the votes in Florida and Michigan ... wasn't that the cry of Owl Gore in 2000? Even though he did his best to avoid counting the vote of military personnel from Florida that were overseas.
