#1 Contributer to the federal government via taxes, for one thing. #1 GSP. We have the #1 port in the western hemisphere too.
Congradulations, you must be proud.

As for myself, I would be proud if my state were dead last in giving the federal government revenue, however, I am a little jealous about the whole #1 port thing going on there.

Really? You like being on welfare? Those who are the worst contributers are those who suckle on California's supple, liberal teats.

I know conservatives like money, but at the cost of your honor?

I suppose some states manage to find the balance, but we're supporting some of the others. The closer you are to that balance the closer you are to accepting welfare.

And, of course, someone has to buy tanks and stuff. We are at war y'know.

Welfare benefits mostly those in Washington. I once read that only 9 cents on the dollar goes to those on welfar and the rest is government overhead. However, I am sure by now the figure is probably something like 6 cents on the dollar. This is one of many reasons I have trouble with the welfare system. I am in no way implying that I like welfare or like the fact that certain segments of the population are carrying the bulk of the burden for welfare.

In short, the federal government does not need any more money, rather, it needs reform. I am sick to death of liberals saying it needs more revenue when what it really needs is reform. Ironically, you don't even hear Repulicans talking about reform, only tax cuts.

That's true; if you look at the statistics you can see Washington has by FAR the worst ratio of federal money in/out. But even ignoring that, lots of other states are in the red, e.g. Mississippi, Alabama, Alaska...
