The point of direct action protests is to fill the prisons with protestors until they are overflowing. It is a sacrifice protestors make deliberately. MLK Jr spent plenty of time in prison.
Prison is a good way to separate a real populist protest movement from a small fringe group throwing a tantrum. So let's put the BLM people and these truckers in prison. We put everybody else in prison at the drop of a pin so why not?
