I think you have socialism conflated with communism. They are not the same thing. Socialism is like the halfway point (more or less) between capitalism and communism. Think of socialism as the road to communism that always seems to be a dead end road. Nobody completes the transition. That is why communism does not exist.
Socialism is not perfect and it doesn't have to be. Russia's socialism is not perfect. In Russia the state owns much of businesses which is contrary to communism which the employees are supposed to own shares of the businesses, not the state.
Ironically socialism never makes the transition to communism because of greed. On the road to communism the powerful decide to take a detour to a kleptocracy for self serving reasons. Some people call Russia crony communism. Like crony capitalism, crony communism is just greed taking priority.
The powerful get greedy. Go figure. It happens in every political system. No political system has to be perfect and none are that I am aware of. Not in practice anyway.

@kmax87 saidWell, I am pointing out that some items at our grocery store will cease to be delivered. Take a Starfruit, they are rare, and if Mamdani takes over, it will be one of the choices that will disappear. I love the stuff. What if tomatoes and bananas are the only fruit? Downer.

Zahlanzi, Mamdani tells us he is socialist. Zahlanzi, one of the tenets of communism is abolishment...complete abolition, of private property.
Follow me here....He IS socialist, and on top of that, he said this:
