ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — A sheriff in Florida says Casey Anthony's mother could face perjury charges for her testimony during her daughter's murder trial.

Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings said Tuesday that Cindy Anthony may have lied on the witness when she was testifying about who searched for chloroform on the family computer. Cindy Anthony initially told police she did not search for chloroform, but at the trial she said she did.

The sheriff also revealed that authorities are investigating a witness tampering allegation. He would not elaborate.

He spoke to reporters during a wide-ranging news conference a week after Casey Anthony was acquitted of murder in the death of her 2-year-old daughter Caylee Anthony.

Casey Anthony was found guilty of lying to law enforcement and is to be released from jail Sunday.

Good plan. Waste another few million on an unwinnable case.

Sometimes it's just better to move on. That would be good advice for you too, Trooper.

My first semester in college I lived on campus in a small room with two other guys. Bat Out of Hell had just been released and the one roomie brought it. And played it. And played it.

He'd wake up in the morning and play it. You'd come back from class; he'd be playing it. He'd play it before he went to sleep. He'd be playing it when you stumbled in at 2 AM on Friday night. This went on the ENTIRE SEMESTER.

I still have intense Meatloaf Aversion Syndrome.

(Never lived in another dorm after that)

Prepare to be disappointed:

OK: Casey Anthony's mother Cindy will not face criminal perjury charges, a spokeswoman for the Florida District Attorney's Office told NBC station WESH on Tuesday.

Interesting development; it turns out that there were NOT 84 web searches for "chloroform" but only one: http://www.sacbee.com/2011/07/20/3781787/anthony-computer-expert-backs.html

This seems far more consistent with Cindy Anthony's claim that she made an erroneous search while intending to look up "chlorophyll" then the prosecution's claim that Casey extensively researched chloroform as a prelude to using it to render Caylee unconscious (remember those searches, done three months before Caylee's disappearance, were the only evidence of premeditation).

I think this explains both the jury's dismissal of the rebuttal evidence that Cindy Anthony was at work at the times claimed when the 84 searches were made and the decision not to attempt to prosecute her for perjury.

I wish Judge Perry would have allowed Casey's AIM conversation with Anthony Rusciano into evidence. It clearly shows motive when juxtaposed next to all the June 16 - July 15 evidence.
