Missed 60 Minutes, did you? Here's why:

quote
With just a few hours before the show was going to air, the new Editor-in-Chief, Bari Weiss, canceled the episode since it was critical of the Trump regime. Bari Weiss claimed she didn’t like the use of the word “migrant,” and she wanted more interviews with Stephen Miller to be in the episode, despite the fact that Miller and the Trump regime refused repeated requests to be interviewed.

The 60 Minutes staff was caught off guard and said the episode went through every level of rigorous vetting and legal review. In the end, Bari Weiss simply did not want to make Donald Trump upset, so she canceled the episode. This follows Trump attacking 60 Minutes for its interview with Marjorie Taylor Greene earlier this month, where Trump demanded an apology from CBS. You will also recall that CBS settled a frivolous lawsuit Trump filed against it back in July as a quid pro quo for Trump to approve the sale of CBS to a company called Skydance, which now controls the company.

This has been the weekend of cover-ups, and CBS is complicit. Trump has been covering up the Epstein files, his health records, the video of the strike on survivors from a fishing boat by Venezuela in an initial strike, and now the refusal to air this 60 Minutes episode exposing Trump’s attacks against migrants.

Awwww, she didn't want to upset Donnie.....

Don't call it self-censorship. Call it cowardice, abject cowardice.

Yep, I saw their "explanation" that their story "wasn't ready".

How many times did the people responsible for the show not show a story they had prepared?

That's right, never before. 60 Minutes has always been among the most professional, responsible news magazines on TV. But this goes beyond the show itself. This is the cowardice of a network.

Let's see if the viewing audience ever gets an apology for this kind of abject cowardice. Once respected for its "Evening News", the show Walter Cronkite himself made famous, they've fallen in line with a madman, an authoritarian.

Let's hope we don't lose the printed press, too.

Editor-in-Chief, Bari Weiss =
Editor-in-Chief, Joseph Goebbels

You mean the totally biased hatchet-job they did on Trump gave them second thoughts and they realized they'd lose all credibility if they ran it?

CBS caved in to political pressure. Bad for journalism, bad for politics. 60 Minutes has a solid reputation for responsible journalism. CBS will lose credibility by not running the program, because it is so obviously a political, not a journalism, decision.

The trump administration refused multiple requests for interviews or statements.

The assignment for reporters is to share new and accurate information about current events with the public. It seems like that is what this story was, no?

This is an important question, since we are sending people there and using tax resources to do so. American voters and taxpayers should know what is happening over there. And we're sure as heck not getting anything like that from FoxNews.

Maybe they'll get a comment from trump and air it in a few weeks. If not, everyone should be mad. Not just the libs.

Yeah there's a bigger story here than bari weiss. The printed press died years ago. No one wanted to pay for high quality news once the Internet made the low quality click bait version of it for free.

Any article longer than 3 sentences or using words with more than 3 syllables are not read on the internet and therefore are not valued by journalism.

Rachel Maddow and other are doing a backup plan, the shift to Bluesky, Trump probably doesn't know about that outlet.

CBS NEWS: “We can’t report on the current murdering spree until we get the serial killer’s side of the story.”

Still, respected institutions like the Washington Post, which broke stories about the President before, and less so, the Wall Street Journal or the New York Times, still exist online, and you can still read their journalistic excellence.

But Cronkite is spinning in his grave.

Cliff - watch the segment for yourself. Note that multiple attempts were made to get the trump administrations perspective, and they declined. If it was biased they could have corrected.

Now form your own opinion without relying on a dumb talking head on Fox News.
