Fox News catches Mike Johnson lying about Trump's shutdown involvement live on air.
Even Fox News has had enough. In a tense on-air exchange, Fox News anchor pressed Speaker Mike Johnson on why Donald Trump was not stepping in to help resolve the government shutdown, and Johnson's response immediately fell apart under the most basic scrutiny.

When Johnson claimed Trump was involved in negotiations, the anchor stopped him cold, pointing out that Trump had personally shot down the latest spending plan. Johnson's response was revealing: "Well, that's what's been reported." The anchor didn't let it slide. "He said it in the Oval Office," came the immediate reply.
Johnson had no answer.

The Speaker of the House, second in line to the presidency, could not defend the president's position on a government shutdown without getting fact-checked in real time by the network that has spent years carrying water for the MAGA movement.
The exchange laid bare the impossible position Johnson finds himself in.

He cannot tell the truth about Trump's role without implicating the president in causing the shutdown, and he cannot defend the lie without getting caught doing it on live television.
The government remains unfunded. Millions of federal workers hang in the balance. And the Speaker of the House is out here getting corrected by Fox News anchors.

Last time things were this bad, Julius looked at Brutus and asked, "Et tu, Brute?"

Hey, if Trump can replace History with BS, I can replace History with Shakespeare.
