Louisiana Man to Be Chemically Castrated After Raping Minor
Ryan Clark, 34, is serving a 35-year term behind bars in Louisiana after admitting to a slew of felony charges, including the second-degree rape of a juvenile, as well as the molestation of a juvenile under 13 and sexual battery. He pleaded guilty on March 1 and was sentenced on Tuesday.
Judge Brian Ables ruled that Clark must also register as a sex offender for life, never contact his victims, forfeit all parental rights, and submit to chemical castration upon his release.
A chemical castration law exists in Alabama as well:

This past January a bill was also introduced in New Mexico for Chemical Castration for sex offenders to be mandatory for parole:

@metal-brain saidGood question, and also a good point against it. I'm not aware of such cases.
@vivify
Has anyone been been chem castrated that was later found innocent?
However, chem castration in U.S. would be after a prison term is served, or a condition for parole. So at least some time would pass that would (hopefully) be enough to exonerate them before being castrated.

Seven US states - California, Florida, Guam, Iowa, Louisiana, Montana and Wisconsin – legalised the chemical castration of rapists and molesters as a condition of sentencing or as a means of early release.
Chemical castration lowers the libido and generally makes the subject less interested in sex.
Once you stop taking the drugs, the libido returns and so does your sex drive.
I have read that if you take the drugs for over 3 years, you won’t be making babies, but besides that, it’s basically reversible.
@shavixmir
Does it prevent erections?
I have heard rape is more about power than sex.
I don't know about you, but I could never be violent and have an erection at the same time. These sickos get turned on by violence.
Not all sex offenses are violent.
A pedophile might not have a violent encounter with a child it would still make them sexual predators. Of if they were the type of crimes Bill Cosby committed where the victims were unconscious. Brock Turner sexually assaulted a woman who was passed-out drunk.
All of them would still be candidates for chemical castration.
@vivify saidMost rapists are violent, aren't they? Did you confine this debate only to child victims?

I’m not sure if it’ “free will” , but it is a choice. Of sorts.
@metal-brain saidYes. It takes the libido right out of you.

That doesn't mean the action doesn't violate the law.
Human Rights Watch agrees with AI's position:
"Human Rights Watch considers castration, chemical or otherwise, as a cruel and degrading form of corporal punishment. Both the Convention against Torture and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, both ratified by Indonesia, prohibit cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment or punishment."
