The superpowers have been given the green light to fight proxy wars with each other for quite some time. Nothing new here. They didn't call the Korean war WW3.

It looks to me like China is sending troops to protect its 30 billion dollar investment there.

You know that China won't take the old fields that its troops liberate and secure.
