Analogy:

A MMA fighter, lets say Cro-Cop, arrives late at cricket grounds, finds you in his seat:

1- He beats you unconscious and takes his seat.
2- He tells you if you don't leave his seat immediately he will beat you unconscious.

#1 coercion.
#2 diplomacy.
