You might consider there are just as many Conservatives on public assistance as their are those dirty old Liberals. You might also consider the majority of those on welfare are currently employed, since wages have not kept pace with the cost of living.

So, are the Conservatives on public assistance anti American too? Are the working poor who are on public assistance also? 😉

Your missing the point. Of course there are conservatives on welfare.
The point is that the way it is structured is anti- family and thus anti American.

This is a semantically void statement.

Pardon my ignorance, but how is a welfare program who helps feed millions of the working poor (some of which are active duty military) "Anti American??"

    Read it again?
“Think about what we now have–don’t get married, don’t get a job, have more kids, and we’ll give you more money,” Jordan said, speaking at Thursday’s forum. “That’s pretty ridiculous, right? It’s anti-family–the key institution in our culture.”

The lawmakers cited the example of an unmarried couple with two children who receive assistance under the Earned Income Tax Credit, which is one of the government’s largest federal welfare cash assistance programs. If each individual were earning $20,000 out of wedlock, for example, they would lose about 10 percent of their benefits once they got married.

“I always tell folks: The first institution the good Lord put together wasn’t the church, wasn’t the state, it was moms and dads and kids,” Jordan said. “It was family. We have an anti-family welfare system, and we have an anti-work welfare [system]. The two values that helped make America the greatest country ever. Strong families, strong commitment to the work ethic. That’s what we have to incentivize.”

So it is a good thing to punish people for getting married.
I am not against welfare, just the way it is structured.

Your news source is nothing but lies. As usual with right-wing conservative news sites. They show or give no proof or facts but only say it and you believe it. Go figure...

When workers wages are so low they qualify for ANY form of public assistance, in truth tax payers are actually subsidizing the employer who gets away with paying so little their employees need some for of welfare.

Taxpayer-subsidized low-paid work is actually a very effective way to combat unemployment. It's one of the reasons why the U.S. has fairly low unemployment, although the way it is implemented in the U.S. is of course not very efficient. A better way to accomplish the same is through negative income taxes or a basic income.

I don't think you own what it is to be American. I am fairly certain that you would label as 'liberal' more than half of the american populace.

Either way anyone looks at it, people who work full-time should not have to get food stamps so they and their kids can eat.
