"In a recent 2010 video brought to light by frequent EPA foe Senator James Inhofe, EPA Reion Administrator Al Almendariz said that he gave the following analogy to his staff about his "philosophy of enforement", which he acknowledges being crude and perhaps inappropriate, but shared anyway: "It is kind of like how Romans used to conquer villages in the Mediterranean -- they would go into a little Turkish town somewhere and they would find the first 5 guys they saw, they would crucify them, and that little town was really easy to manage for the next few years."
The analogy is in regard to how the EPA plans to deal with energy producing companies in the US. Just make examples of a few and fear spreads throughout the land as they lay prostrate for the government. The Obama administration has distanced itself from the comments saying that this is not representative of the EPA and the position of the Obama administration. However, it is a leading adiministrator in the EPA who is simply divulging tactics, so how can Obama just say that this is not really being done? Does saying that this is not being done, after we witnessed them saying it is being done, make it go away? Additionally, Al still has a job. Why?
In memory of another distant voice that Obama has tried to distance himself from as well, are the chickens every going to come home to roost for the EPA? It's a little thing called tyranny.
