In recent years, much of the GOP have turned their attention towards culture war issues. The Stop WOKE act, forbidding the teaching of "controversial topics" in schools, forcing pandemic safety rules for private businesses, politically punishing Disney worlds and boycotting other companies over their opinion , hundreds of bans on lifestyle choices like anti-gay and anti-trans bills, the list goes on.
The Republican party doesn't appear to have much of anything else to run campaigns on. They don't even care if these bills are constitutional or succeed after legal challenge. DeSantis' team has spent $18 million in taxes for legal defense of his absurd legislation. If it wins in court, then he can laud it. If it loses, its because some lib judge is out to get him.
Just admit it, culture warriors. You want a big brother government that exists to tell people what to do.

As far as I am concerned, the draconian drug regimen and surgeries should never be given to anyone but an adult.

I suppose in the not too long term it won't matter; I can't imagine even this SCOTUS upholding laws like the one recently passed in Tennessee which bans public drag shows. This is political theater appealing to the lowest common denominator of ignorant bigots.
