I sure hope there are a lot of foreclosures on the streets where Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and Barney Frank live.
The problem the video points out is obvious to the most casual observer.

It's certainly not perfect (it has an obvious political leaning), but it does a decent job showing the democrats resisting additional regularion on Fanie and Freddie. For those who refuse to beleive that the democrats have no blame for F&F, be sure to watch the very end.

"Pressured to Take on Risk, Fannie Hit a Tipping Point"
Setting up corporations is not something the US government is very good at anyway because, as happened in this case, the government cannot resist interferring with the way they are run. If government people were good at business -- surprise -- they'd be in business!
Pressuring FM/FM to make bad loans to increase home ownership was foolish and inappropriate. 'Course hindsight is 20-20, but Congress has to take the blame either way.

Originally posted by spruce112358I have a link posted to a New York Times article in another thread that points to pressure from the Clinton administration and shareholders for Fannie to change their lending requirement. It wasn't Congress that pushed them to chage the credit requirements. It was Congress who failed reign them in.

Given that the House has the "power of the purse", it is kind of astonishing that deficit spending and dubious financial arrrangements has gone rampant when Republicans -- the self-styled "party of fiscal responsibility" -- has been in control of those purse-strings!
My personal feeling is that Republicans are not true Lincoln-esque, Yankee conservatives anymore. The party has morphed into the American Party of God (or 'Hezbollah' in Arabic), a party promising only "no more abortions" and "continuing struggle against the Islamic infidel."
