Did any people choose to defect TO Germany in WWII for ideological reasons?

EDIT - Inspired by our very own Sam the Sham. 😵

Yes. A lot of people from different directions.

Of course. In France you had the Vichy regime, here in the Netherlands you had the NSB, and I'm sure there were various other organizations in other countries, as well as people who collaborated with the Nazis without explicitly belonging to a group.

Many Finns hold Nazi Germany in high regard.

These examples are of regions where the Nazis more or less had boots on the ground. I'm thinking more of people who got on a boat or plane from Los Angeles, Australia or South Africa (etc) and went to Germany.

There's a Nazi band called HateCrime from Finnland.

There are many NSBM bands from various places, but they hardly have mainstream appeal.

I'm just going on what a Finn told me at another site. He said Finns don't have a problem with Hitler because Hitler was the one who defended the Finns from Stalin. If it wasn't for Hitler, Finland would have been absorbed into Russia. He was rather thankful for that.

I took him at his word.

That's quite a strange viewpoint, seeing as the Finish willingly Allied themselves to the Germans. It seems rather unlikely that the Russians would have attacked them again if they hadn't allowed their country to be used by Nazi forces to attack Russia.

A lot of nazi/fascism supporters never left the USA. Ford being a proud and outspoken example.

There were many volunteer SS units, from all over Europe who joined for ideological reasons.
