I don't think the Israeli paranoia is to do with religion at all. Religion just boosts and nurtures it.
Does it have to do with the constant threat it's under? I'm not sure what you're getting at. Great topic though, there's a lot of fellow atheists out there. Dawkins said organizing atheists together would be a lot like herding cats...maybe it just takes a chess website?
