No tax increases for anyone under $400,000,
isn't that what he promised?
.I'm a long time Democrat but, I pride myself on ALWAYS
VOTING FOR THE BEST CANDIDATE. I praised G.W. BUSH when he, single-handedly,prevented an AIDS epidemic in Africa
by sending AIDS curbing drugs over there. A coupla' terms ago I voted for a GOP Mayor in my city. Good m ...[text shortened]... all propose what is

Yes you are.
have you read the bill that was passed?
@Mott-The-Hoople
Oh maven of all things political, please tell us so we understand and can be as smart as you.
@mott-the-hoople saidMy favorite Nobel prize winning economist, Joseph Stiglitz, shoots down such claims in an excellent article on the bill I urge everyone to read. The relevant passage is this:
People are already hurting financially and this bill ADDS tax increases...FOE EVERYONE.
"Of course, some critics on the right (many of them allied with drug companies, other major corporations, and the wealthy) will argue that the IRA will be inflationary, and they will even produce models “proving” that that is the case. But we know by now that bad models give bad predictions. Just look at the models that were marshaled in support of Ronald Reagan’s tax cuts for the rich (which they falsely claimed would increase revenues) or Donald Trump’s tax cuts for corporations (which they falsely claimed would spur additional investment).
These predictable arguments against the IRA’s tax provisions are based on a flawed assumption: namely, that corporations will “shift” the burden of the minimum tax by raising prices and lowering wages. But economists have long recognized that the current US corporation-tax regime – which allows firms to deduct virtually all costs, including labor and capital – is close to a pure profits tax. And a longstanding presumption in economics is that a pure profits tax does not lead to either higher prices or lower wages.
This also implies that these taxes can be raised without fear of adverse effects, either on inflation or investment. The big distortions – and gross inequities – in the tax system come from inadequate enforcement and large loopholes, and the IRA at least makes progress on the first of these fronts."

You mean the IRS? What is the IRA? or is that just a program to park your money like in a 401K?
@sonhouse saidThe bill just passed was called the "Inflation Reduction Act" hence IRA.

Ok, missed that one. I just know repubs wiped out the idea of cheaper insulin which effects our family since my wife has type 2 diabetes. So they get their rocks off screwing the public, just like they proved killing the Burn Pit bill while veterans like me are dying from that nasty stuff burning. I didn't go through that myself but a lot of GI's did and died from it and it is unconscionable that they would be raising their fist at that pyrrhic 'victory', they really won the vote of us veterans out there. WE REMEMBER that stuff.
@jimm619 saidGood question. The party leaders won't say, and its mindless drones buzzing around here offer no ideas either. They all just bitch and moan about absolutely everything whilst polishing their pistols and whining about having to do adult stuff as members of a society.
As usual, The GOP chose to criticize and obstruct.
I think we know what they're against...WHAT ARE THEY FOR?
@Soothfast
And for sure they have not been doing ANY actual adult stuff like helping out American citizens, they ONLY want to obstruct, the party of NO and that is their official line. They HAVE no policy except that one, STOP ANY DEM BILL IF WE CAN.
That is the sum total of ALL the repub zombies, remember Moscow Mitch saying
I am the grim reaper?
At least real bills are getting passed and there will no doubt be republicans just like when the infrastructure bill was passed and they ALL voted against it, NOW going GREAT NEWS CITIZENS, a lot of money is coming into our state to fix bridges and roads, taking credit when in fact those slimy basTURDS voted no to a man, or woman.
