Do you respect yourself when you allow another man to use you?

"Troons"?

Trump is illegal

Seriously, I just pulled this down:

""Here are some suggestions for issues that should be on this platform.
Lower pocketbook Costs— Including lowering cost of groceries, rent subsidies, low-cost transportation, and health care
Edit: WHO lowers costs....nothing in constitution about that . So, who?
Education Reform — Support the renewed interest in civics but how is it being taught
Edit: Good one. Teach children about civics.
Fight against oligarchy and the concentration of wealth and power in the hands of the few; promote tax reform and the overturn of Citizens United.
Edit: Tough one, and seems unfair, in that if there is wealth and power in the hands of some, it will be TAKEN FROM THEM and distributed to other citizens. How would this be done....more importantly, who would do it.? Not the government, it is not in the constitution. So, would producers be punished for being producers, which would be the ONLY way to shift that wealth??

Support our allies on foreign policy issues; renew support for Ukraine and put pressure on Israel to end the war in Gaza
"Edit". Support our allies, but DEMAND burden-sharing and prioritize U S Interests, all in the manner of the previous President Trump. We need tl oppose endless wars. Favor diplomacy and Terrence over military intervention when possible. Pressure NATO countries to increase defense spending. Continue strong support for Israel. An important over all of this is to emphasize American first priorities. Allies are important, but US taxpayers should not carry disproportionate costs.

Denounce civil rights violations such as ICE raids and political violence and put forward a proposal for immigration reform.
Edit: Well, yes of course, no violations of anything, civil rights or what have you. Put these people in jail. Breaking the law. Like illegal immigrants, send them home. All according to law. Follow the law. Have an agency like the present-day ICE to enforce the law and patrol areas in danger of such lawbreakers. Make sure all raids of said agencies are performed legally. Punish any officer that goes beyond bounds of their authority. Study and rewrite the rules of authority where needed.

Increase support for the use of renewable energy and climate friendly policies.
Edit: These programs have been useless and have been reduced substantially. We must drill for oil and be energy independent, which thus requires closing the disastrous climate controls and programs instituted over the last years that proved futile and expensive. Ask other countries to pick up that slack, and try their best. We have done our time. We will spend such money getting the Earth Humans to Mars.

Support the regulation of information technologies, such as AI and social media.
Edit: This is already underway and we wish to extend it.

I had never heard of this before -

Suicidal Empathy. Dying to Be Kind. By Gad Saad,. On Sale: May 12, 2026

I may have to read that. Assuming you are going to also - maybe we can talk about this in June. Interesting concept.

I wonder if this is part of human nature/history - just never phrased this way before. It feels sometimes like there is nothing new under the sun. Were they talking about "this" in Plato's and Aristotle's time.

Or maybe the Late Middle Ages? I am guessing he covers that too. We will both find out together.

I am sure it is well thought out and a worthy read. There might be some leaps in logic that I don't agree with, but that is the case in all non-fiction maybe.

"at the expense of survival and security of one’s own groups and values."

As I don't have a group or believe in the concept of "us and them", if that idea is presented as "factual" rather than a thesis that might be problematic. My values are love your neighbor as yourself (I read that in a book once) and all men are created equal (that was part of the Declaration of something or another).

My dad is first generation migrant from Italy - the experience of a lot of people of my age (60's). He was tormented endlessly as youth as were his father and mother. We are all Dagos and WOPs (with out papers). He was strong enough to withstand the abuse. He fought on a navy destroyer in the Korean War and took abuse on board ship as a dago and wop as the mission went forward. They took fire and sustained casualties. All while he was reviled by some because of his last name. He never really got over that I don't think. He still won't talk about it.

I have never been to Europe - but in Wisconsin its just us. I lived in Arizona for 15 years and living in a mixed race and mixed culture society was great. My favorite US city is New Orleans - many races and colors.

Everyone is different and I am pretty sure there is no black and white (no pun intended) right and wrong. There is just life and death. We all have the life we have. We love who we love and we hate who we hate. Some lean into love, some lean into hate.

I do like reading the forums and will pop my head up on occasion. I have never tried to give anyone advice though. Advice was invented by people and in my opinion is pointless. Smart people like us don't need advice. Stupid people don't listen to advice, so it is a waste of our valuable time.

I am down to my last x years - I am not going to spend a minute hating anyone or thinking there is an "us and them".

Great Pink Floyd song btw :-)

ymmv
