What we have said is BECAUSE of Trump's so called policy of tariffs which BTW is FKING ILLEGAL because CONGRESS authorizes tariffs so what they are doing is lacking the balls to go against Trump so turning over the power to tariff to Trump WITHOUT EVEN A VOTE ON IT. MEANING IT IS STILL ILLEGAL and will be and no doubt IS being fought in court. And assuming say SCOTUS or Congress approves of Trump stealing their authority which raises a lot of questions right there.
If they all happens then it CAN lead to a depression, not something ANYONE wants maybe with the exception of Trump. You claim he is the most intelligent POTUS in US history and if so looking at what happened in 1930 where tariffs DIRECTLY made the depression a LOT worse, and you go WELL that was THEN, this is NOW.
Like finances are so different now as to not effect us?

RIGHT NOW, Trump is still claiming those countries pay the tariff and you and I both know because you said so, that WE pay the tariff, it is LITERALLY an up front tax, similar to the Euro deal called 'value added tax'
So some widget costs 1000 bucks before tariff, now price increased because the company cannot afford to eat the tariff so it WILL and they already have in most cases passed on the tariff increase to the price so a 30% tariff, now the same widget price jumps immediately to 1300 bucks.
Which means someone will pay it but a LOT of people won't, going SCREW your higher price, we won't buy it and because we have no replacement made in the US that particular widget will have a much lower sales here so they may find they cannot stay in business if that is 100% of their business plan so they go bankrupt, which means loss of jobs which ups the unemployed count which increases the money spent for unemployment benefits and so on.
Now maybe you can't think that far ahead but really smart economists HAVE analyzed this stuff. AND I BELIEVED THEM. As should you. AND TRUMP.

But Trump has riled up his base with claims of how America is not appreciated and how everyone takes advantage, yet doesn't seem to realize the benefits of the US dollar being the world's reserve currency and how that has advantaged the US above every other nation. So attacking the established international rules based system will achieve what exactly? Encourage the rest of the world to bypass the US dollar. And what will the consequences of that trade be to the US economy.

If Trumps tariffs go through it can lead DIRECTLY to a recession or depression if Trump is so stupid he continues to believe foreign companies pay the tariffs and you know as well as I WE pay the tariff, it is a TAX.
