i'm not sure of the verse in the bible, but there is something about this. what are peoples views on this? what is it we are supposed to deny? most importantly what are the dangers of Christians becoming an authority which takes religious control over God.

not just christians, all religions seek to push their own brand of God(TM), and in the process take authority from god. just look at islam, same probelms exist there.

There is a verse in the bible which says we should not denounce authority. However I think it is taken for granted that the authority is acting correctly, so I don't think it would apply to the political situation in Britain at present as much as it would have in, say Margaret Thatcher's time, or Winston Churchill's. That doesn't mean the verse must be discredited though, I'm sure it has other meanings too, but please don't ask me to elaborate, I'm not the best theologian.
