One of the best presentations of development data I've ever seen.

How long would you have to look at the logrithmic scale on the wealth comparison chart to realise that even though the wealth peak is moving towards a bell curve distribution, you are still talking bout 20% having 74% of the wealth. And even if you explode the individual clusters, the means do provide a reality check on world scale inequity. As more information flows, will people be impressed with hope to find more satisfying solutions, or will they be depressed into being resigned to see that for many any notion of wealth will always be a distant unreachable dream.

One of the problems of development is the search for magical formulas applied to whole regions (South East Asia, Subsaharian Africa, Middle East) and that not only ignore the diversity within those groups, they stink of paternalism and arrogance.

An interesting aside at the creation/evolution debate. One of those books that if it tickles your funny bone you won't put it down and people will hear you break out uproariously for no apparent reason, while you read it.
