This is a big thing at the moment here in the Netherlands.
Lots of scandals unfolding and people getting axed, because of sexual misbehaviour.
Like sending dick pics.
Now. Uh. Seemingly something like 25% of women have received dick pics at least once in the last 10 years. Many of recipients are younger women. I believe that in the age group younger than 25, it’s something like 40% or so.
Unbelievable if you ask me. Who the hell is sending pictures of their genitals? And why?
It’s like the man with a rain coat on in the woods, flashing, but then basically adding his name, telephone number and proof to the equation.
My brain can’t wrap around it.
Now, obviously, nobody’s sending me pictures of their dicks, vaginas or bums. But if someone did, I’d pass the photo on to everyone in my list, adding who sent it to me and then add it to facebook, adding name and phone number as well.
I’m pretty sure that would be the last dick pic that person would send to anyone.
Why don’t women do that?
I’m pretty sure that the majority of men would be far more reluctant to share their genitals, if the photos were likely to end up all over the place next to their faces.
It seems, to me, a problem with a very simple and effective solution.
Or an I missing something?
@vivify saidBut surely, if a man is sending someone a pic like that, without consent, then it’s free game to just splash it all over the internet, name and all?
Imagine if a man did the same to a female. He'd be the sexist a-hole who only treats women as objects.
It's a simple rule. If it would be wrong to do it to women, even if the pics are uninvited, same for dudes.
@shavixmir saidWhat's to stop that one guy, having gotten a pic of a woman, through whatever means, including stealing, from splashing it everywhere, claiming she sent it to him?

Oh, yeah, nothing.
@shavixmir saidAgain: what if men did that to women? Would you feel comfortable saying the man on the receiving end of that situation has free reign to post that woman's nude pic where ever he wants?

I think there should be a law against lewd, unwanted pics. But public shaming like that? I don't know. Anthony Weiner may have deserved it since he sent a Dick pic to a minor.
Public shaming, if we're going to insist on using it, should be reserved for particularly bad people, not just annoyances.
@vivify saidSeemingly there’s quite often a power thing in the equation. The boss sending the picture, that sort of thing.
