Some people are a wee bit confused. They don't know how to distinguish between true and false religion, between the teachings of a religion and the acts of those who call themselves followers.
You could easily say "Science is the scourge of Mankind", because every weapon that was used in every war was made by "scientists". From the stone ax to the atom bomb.
Both statements are equally true.
