Warning: This video contains shocking material.

"Northamptonshire Police said it was investigating jointly with the RSPCA after images emerged of Annie the Asian elephant being struck with a metal pitchfork.

Animal Defenders International (ADI) shot the covert video earlier this year amid concerns for the 57-year-old animal's well-being as part of the Bobby Roberts Super Circus."

"What circus animals can't tell you--and circus promoters don't want you to know. Going to the circus seems like wholesome family fun. Parents want to share an experience with their kids. But behind pretty curtains, there is an ugly reality. Animals are abused to make them learn tricks. Elephants, even babies, are beaten with bull hooks. Powerful wild animals are brutalized into submission. Don't go to the circus to see the animals you love. Stop going, in order to save them. We've seen the truth and are taking a stand. See for yourself at http://www.Circuses.com See human entertainers instead of animal performers: clowns, magicians, acrobats and dancers. They'll dazzle and delight you and your family. Make a new tradition in your family: Pledge to save animals by boycotting animal circuses. Thank you."

"Boycott animal circuses"? what a timid advocate of animal rights you are, why not simply urge government to impose a ban on such practices, or perhaps you might even resort to direct action if you're looking for more immediate results.

But behind pretty curtains, there is an ugly reality. Midgets are abused to make them learn tricks. Midgets, even young ones, are ridiculed just because they are tiny people. Even midgets who are not funny at all or are outrightly grumpy are brutally put make up into submission. Don't go to the circus to see the midgets you love. Stop going, in order to save them. We've seen the truth and are taking a stand. See for yourself at http://www.midgetssufferatcircus.com See normal-height human entertainers instead of midgets. They'll dazzle and delight you and your family while having in their personal life, because of an unstable and itinerant, lonley life, a hell of alcoholism and depression which you cannot see but, hey, if you cannot see it then it's not there, right? Make a new tradition in your family: Pledge to save midgets by boycotting midget circuses. Thank you."

The plight of the midgets is comparatively mild if compared to that of elephants, at least they employ many of them in Hollywood films, I have never seen an elephant playing a prominent role in any recent Hollywood production. Do we really know if these midgets have even entered the country legally? of course, not, the circus promoters' unions don't want you to know that. Jobs are being lost, robbed even, by malicious tiny people, they cannot possibly be compared to elephants.
