Exactly what is China going to do about oh, an AIRCRAFT CARRIER, where they knew exactly where the plane fell, so the Chinese would have very little time, anyway, they would probably just go down to the plane and load it with C4 if they couldn't get the thing out of the water.
@athousandyoung saidwe recognize, as a society, that art and education are important.
You be quiet wildgrass.
And yet... the entire budget for the national endowment of the arts could only buy two F-35 airplanes. Notwithstanding the cost of maintenance and officer training.
It's ridiculous, no matter how you slice it.
@wildgrass
Our local HS, Northern Lehigh, had a budget crunch, they eliminated all music lessons, arts, but BY GOD WE HAVE A SHYTE FOOTBALL TEEM.....
@sonhouse saidI have no horse in that race, but the football team does generate income from admissions to games.

Depending on your area, the football team could pay its own way or more.
@Earl-of-Trumps
I suppose that is possible but I don't think HS football games charge money.
I am into music big time and never went to ANY HS football game.
Well I did PLAY when I was 13 but ended up in hospital with broken patella.
Took up badminton instead, won my little college badminton championship. WOW was I impressed.....
@sonhouse saidI grew up in a town/high school that did not have a football team. I realized later in life that the reason for this was we didn't have any rich alumni to donate money for the equipment, coaching, field maintenance etc.

So.. no money for sports, but at least us normal citizens can feel protected by a vast excess of military bloat.
@sonhouse saidReally? Handy like the dozen donuts/day-eating cop in a foot race. I'm skeptical.
@wildgrass
Well one thing, a nice bloated military is handy in a war....
edit: We're in a spending-is-safety mentality that is totally false. Get that out of your head.
