hey i put this in the tourney forum but am not getting any response. the recent starting of the secound round of the juno quickfire rookie tourney alreay has one group finished! faith no mor and powersurge have drawn both thier games and are advancing to the next round. the only prblem is that they each made like one move a piece! why is this? you dont think thats a little unfair to the rest of the players... maybe i should just suck it up and quit whinning but i think others will agree that this is totally wrong.

Yes, you're quite right that this is unsportsmanlike. Both should be publically shamed for such cowardice and subversion.
does anyone even care about this...?

Know what I'm sayin'? Ain't nothin' to debate, really. If I was Tha Man,
they'd never make anotha move on this site again, fo' real! We all here
to play chess, and since they ain't here to do that - Snap! I'd be deletin'
they accounts. But I ain't Tha Man, so yo, I just deal.

what can we do...? well, they haven't broken any rules that I know of - are there any rules covering etiquet in tourneys? Do we need some?
Even if it was written into tourney rules that arranged draws were not allowed it wouldn't be too hard to prearrange a draw and then make 20 fast moves before actually drawing. But at least this way it would take some effort and the opponents would actually have to trust that the other person would indeed take the draw...
I suspect (only a guess) that in this case one of the players was going to be away soon, be unable to keep up with the quickfire play and therefore would be T/O'd. In light of this his opponent agreed to draw the game.
Although this might seem reasonable, part of the point of rapid fire tourneys is that you have to always be available. In the only rapid fire tourney I entered I was unlucky enough to have the 2nd round start 3 days before I went to Africafor 2 weeks so I was T/O'd. That's just the way it goes and you should appreciate this whe you sign up for such tourneys.
