I just read this article. It seems that McDonald's doesn't make kids fat but rather sedatary lifestyles and parents.

What do you guys think? Should McDonald's be held accountable for parents not doing their jobs?

should the gun industry be held accountable for the gun related deaths?

or for the wars?(well granted, the do manipulate large countries into going into wars 😉, but assuming they didn't should they be held accountable for a war?)

people are responsible for their actions, in this case parents are for their children.

McDollards must be correct. Its the parents fault. Weak minded parents who don't know how to get their kids into a tennis camp and turn out world champions who take away Wimbledon prizes 1 and 2 easy as falling off a log. Its easy enough to see that McDollards is the food of champions, the parents are just not doing enough.

Stupid lazy parents!

That must be why McDonalds spent $700m on advertising in 2006, according to their own figures:

http://www.mcdonalds.com/corp/invest/pub/sec.html

Advertising costs included in expenses of Company-operated restaurants primarily consist of contributions to advertising cooperatives and were (in millions): 2006–$689.8; 2005–$644.0; 2004–$610.2. Production costs for radio and television advertising, primarily in the U.S., are expensed when the commercials are initially aired. These production costs as well as other marketing-related expenses included in selling, general & administrative expenses were (in millions): 2006–$97.4; 2005–$116.7; 2004–$103.7. In addition, significant advertising costs are incurred by franchisees through separate advertising cooperatives in individual markets.

Much of that huge figure is spent enticing young children into their junk food establishments.

Don't underestimate the pester-power of kids. McDonalds certainly don't!

Noone is stuffing BigMac into the kids throats. McD certainly not. Their parents perhaps.
If you don't want to get fat of McD products, then don't eat it.

I don't want to have sucralose in me, so I avoid products with it. Can it be simpler?

It is not McDonald's responsibility that some kids are fat. In fact, it's not even your business or mine, unless it's your kid, or you're the PE teacher.

Sorry, I was going to give a thoughtful answer to your question but I just had a Mac attack.

Later.
