@AverageJoe1 saidObama did it too is not a logical argument supporting a policy. It's not a logical argument supporting a school yard fight. It's not a logical argument supporting any action past kindergarten.

@wildgrass said? So let me get this straight. Obama committed many many nefarious killing acts, and no one said anything. Do you fault Trump for doing similar acts? How much simpler can I make this question and why can you not answer it?

@AverageJoe1 saidYour premise is false. Lots of people said lots of things when Obama did it.

Def : Any boat out in the Caribbean Sea with more than 2 engines.
[Sport / Pleasure craft please stay out of the area]
I back asking no questions.
I back leaving none alive
I back bypassing due process.
Thanks to Trump a few things are getting done.
@Suzianne saidBoth parties' throwing out moderates who don't toe the party line in all cases is what got this country into this predicament in the first place.
I wonder how much he's getting paid by the Republican Party. This is Kyrsten Sinema all over again.
I'll also say that although Trump is losing on many other fronts (with good reason), his maneuvering the Democratic party into consistently supporting drug cartels and drug runners is sheer 4-D chess.

@AverageJoe1 saidWhile I opposed many of the drone strikes done by Bush and Obama, they were arguably legal under the Congressional Authorization of Force against those groups which planned the 9/11 attacks or were affiliated with those who did.https://www.congress.gov/107/plaws/publ40/PLAW-107publ40.pdf

Trump's drone strikes in the Caribbean and Pacific are not directed at such groups and are thus patently illegal and unconstitutional.

Curious. I have always laughed in discussions where someone like yourself says ‘other people’. Who, WGrass?
Even worse is when someone says ,,,,”They say….” Who, WGrass..?
Pick it up a notch. Geez

A quick search reveals hundreds of news articles critical of Obama's drone war, mostly by the liberals but there was heavy criticism from both political parties. This is back in the pre-Trump era where we didn't have to frame everything as a right-left issue. It was immoral then and it is immoral now.
It is illogical and puerile to justify an action just by saying that other people also do it. Fetterman needs to say "it is (or isn't) morally and legally OK for world governments to kill people for no reason" or get out of the conversation. And then be prepared for the next president to use this precedent for his/her own actions (just because Trump did it too).
I'm against it. Here is a well written article from 2010 written by a liberal critical of Obama's drone strikes.

@no1marauder saidArguably legal. Estimates range, but probably 1/3 of those killed in Obama's drone strikes were civilians.

In one of Obama's best speeches, he wanted the US military-industrial complex to "reject the false choice between our security and our ideals." He abandoned his own words.
