or maybe none at all? Has anyone asked Trump or AD-Vance what their five-year plan is? Maybe check again in a few hours -- it might be different!

Sure, the PRC has had its problems, but just look at the climb back out of internal civil wars and the rebuff and ejection of foreign invaders.

And now it seems they already have twice as much electrical capacity as the USA, for instance to support the next evolution of crypto-mining, i.e., AI or whatever fad comes next.

(not to mention their inventions in the past and their amazing displays in recent years)

Prediction: Some Chinese scientists are going to find a way to maintain AI in a 10-gallon fish tank using only 40 watts.

I wish I were Han again. I wish I had the money and the guts to ditch my house and move back there.

What is there to admire about American culture? Racism and stupid sitcoms? Culture wars between academic post-semiotic rainbow-people activists and the people they haughtily think they are helping?

Keep it current, that's what started this thread, about how wonderful China is today.
China today is falling apart, new buildings are collapsing, cars/buses/trains are blowing up, street explosions are common from gas/electricl problems, the food is fake/poisonous/painted to look fresh, young people are falling over and their bones are so brittle from the garbage they eat they suffer broken bones, and they have poisoned their air/land/water to a point it can't be fixed, and their economic figures are complete nonsense.....how bad does it have to get for you to stop bragging about how great China is?

The various dynasties were no bed of roses for the citizens, they were basically slaves to the emperor's whims. Life was brutal and short, hardly something to brag about. Then came the communist takeover by Mao where 40+ millions were starved to death for his Great Leap Forward....you really don't want to bring up China's glorious past.
They invented gunpowder and paper currency, I suppose that's something.
