People from Florida are so dumb and insane it's coined the term "Florida Man". Here's a few recent stories:

This is hilarious, but almost certainly caused by a unique records law that exists in Florida. It requires all police reports to be public basically immediately. So journalists can comb through those and do keyword searches for quick clickbait articles that are great for the internet.
People don't get into fist fights with alligators in Minnesota, but a ton of crazy stuff happens up there too. It's just not as easy to access the information.
