Is this ability to seek duties something that the GOP, or the Dems, should support? Are duties government interference in the free market, or are they ... what?
The same story cites Mexico claiming their tomatoes are vine ripened while Florida's crop is picked green then gassed with ethylene to turn them red.
American agricultural practices are hardly a treasure to be preserved. Where are consumers in this debate?
When a country like Venezuela tries to protect its resources against multi national scavangers, they are accused of marxist lunacy and attacked with the full range of US aggression. For developing countries, free trade is the eternal mantra of the corporately controlled state that is the USA. Back at home, it is more a pick and mix approach.

Disgusting.
Government is entitled to your money, and they need more of it. New ideas like casinos and state run liquor stores only bring in so much revenue. In fact, I was thinking they might try legalizing brothels to bring in more $$$$$.

Back on the original topic, seems to me that both EU and USA push free trade, but won't allow it themselves. They want to be free to sell, but don't want other sellers to get the same treatment in their countries.
