At Least Four Strains Of COVID-19 Were Found In Ravens’ Facility, Team President Dick Cass Says

“Based on information provided by the NFL, we have learned that we had at least four unique strains of COVID-19 in our facility,” Cass said. “Three of the four were stopped and not spread within our organization. Unfortunately, the fourth was a highly-contagious strain and spread throughout our organization.”

For you Euros, the Ravens are a National Football League club.

Now, does anyone still think this is what SE Asia and Africa have for the Sars-Cov-2 virus..? Why this virus thrives so much better in North America is not apparent to me but it is pretty clear that social distancing and masks will never get our virus level down to levels of say - China.

It thrives in North America because we don't use precautions to mitigate its' spread.

I wonder how effective a COVID vaccine will be against multiple strains. Or, will COVID evolve like the flu, resulting in a new COVID vaccine being needed each year?

Also Africa has on average a rather younger population, so even if infection rates are high, death rates are likely to be lower than in the greying West.

True, but the severity of most other diseases doesn't have quite the same fairly direct correlation with age (except in so far as older people are, of course, more likely to be vulnerable in general). I can't trace the article now, but I read a commentator recently suggesting that the lockdowns could be justified in the West and Far East, where the viral death toll is likely to be much higher, but that in Africa the economic damage caused by lockdown would probably cause more deaths than the virus itself in the long run.

For one thing they didn't throw mass protests when the government suggested they wear masks.
