Debates

Fox News dominates cable news ratings as of early 2026, frequently holding 13–14 of the top 15 most-watched programs, with The Five often reaching over 3.5–4 million viewers, far outpacing competitors like MSNBC's The Rachel Maddow Show (typically 1.7–2.5M) and CNN's top, lower-ranked offerings.

You all say i should not watch FOX News? To say that I am wrong means that YOU are wrong, does it not? Logic.

Propaganda is very popular because it exploits emotional triggers, and it aligns with preexisting thought. The reason you should turn it off has nothing to do with its popularity. Modern propaganda that exists on Foxnews is used by fascist leaders to build support, create cults of personality, demonize and dehumanize certain groups of people, and influence behavior, leading to polarization and decreased trust in other people.

I had no idea. Could you please enlighten all of us, with maybe several news stories that were propaganda. Could you be an adult about it and write something serious, and not whiny Trump stuff. I’m talking about news reporting that is propaganda. If they say Trump said 30,000 were killed but 20,000 were killed, I am going to have to pass on that one. Boring you know.

Preference doesn't take into account 'wrong' or 'right'.

But I do know that journalism, as always, should be solely about 'truth'.

Fox News (and now CBS, and soon, CNN) fails in this regard.

That Truth receives limited viewership in this country does not surprise me one whit -- truth is hard, especially if you don't like it.

After all, you were never big on accuracy.

No wonder Trump's your guy.

Things are often judged clueless by the clueless.

Three examples:

1) The election integrity concerns - Foxnews hosts and guests consistently cast doubt on election integrity in leadups to elections, including fake claims that massive numbers of illegal immigrants are voting, and that Democrats let them into the US for this purpose. This is a continuation of a narrative that led to a nearly $800 million defamation lawsuit in which Foxnews admitted to making up such stories. For some reason, these integrity concerns are unidirectionally focused at a specific political ideology. This easily fits the definition of propaganda.

2) Misleading imagery of danger and violence being perpetrated by Democrats - there are at least a dozen examples where Foxnews seems to have purposefully used fake images or photos taken from different times/locations in order to make it look like Democrat cities are being burned and looted by criminal gangs, in order to prop up their fascist leader as the guy who will bring law and order to these places with the military. These narratives are false and political and therefore propaganda.

3) The Biden Crime Family narrative - Foxnews highlighted claims from an FBI informant about the Biden family dealings with Ukraine and China, long after serious concerns were uncovered about the accuracy of the claims and the credibility of the witness. This was a persistent effort to paint a specific, unproven claim of corruption, deliberately promoted by Foxnews and the Trump campaign to promote Trump's candidacy, and therefore propaganda.

Again, people like propaganda. Its entertaining. It hits the dopamine receptors in the brain. It makes you feel good inside and want to come back for more. Its also manipulative and false and should be avoided (or at least acknowledged) if possible.

What a hoot.

Propaganda = information that is deliberately false or misleading and systematically promoted to manipulate .

You’ve made three accusations, but none of them actually demonstrate propaganda.

Raising concerns about election integrity is not propaganda by itself.
Every major party in American history has questioned elections at times. Like,Stacey Abrams refused to concede the 2018 Georgia governor raceHillary repeatedly said the 2016 election was “illegitimate.” Many Democrats objected to certifying George W. Bush in 2000 and 2004.

So unless you’re prepared to say all of those statements were propaganda, simply discussing election integrity cannot qualify.

Also, the lawsuit you referenced (the Fox Corporation settlement with Dominion Voting Systems) was a defamation case, not a court ruling that Fox News as a whole “made up stories.” It was settled without a trial verdict, which means the legal question of propaganda was never adjudicated.
So you are off the mark so far. Do you really get the Fox v Dominion concept? I doubt it, but don’t waste your time trying to figure it out… You are not going to get it.

If Fox deliberately used incorrect footage, that would be bad journalism, but you would need to show proof big time…. and that Fox knew it was false.. Don’t forget that to qualify as propaganda. Fox would have to be proven to know it was false. yawner so far. Stupid so far.

Cut to the chase, or give it up. Try this:

Can you give a single clear example where Fox News knowingly broadcast information they knew was false for political purposes, and where that was proven rather than alleged?

Of course I could do whatsboutisms of MSNBC and CNN publishing and having to retract many a comment. But that is more boredom.

If something is political or false that you keep talking about, that doesn’t make it propaganda. There are elements of propaganda, none of which meet that criteria.

Most of your posts and those of others are littered with venom and hate for Trump, which totally overshadow simplistic conversation that I am trying to have.
I gotta hand it to you, you sure can do a good job of muddying up the water so nobody knows what you’re talking about. I would say my posts have much more clarity than yours.
You are reaching, but you fall short. And , We can show you just as much transgression by CNN and MSNBC.
Funny that you write about Dems efforts of rigging elections, about illegals voting, when you know, marauder wants all of the illegals to vote as do the Democrats so that they will carry Gavin Newsom and Kamala to the finish line.

It seems that you've been so captured by the propaganda machine at Foxnews that you don't even know what propaganda is anymore.
You are reaching, but you fall short. And , We can show you just as much transgression by CNN and MSNBC.

I don't watch those networks. Show me where CNN and MSNBC admitted that they lied constantly and spent $800 million to settle a propaganda case about election fraud? Importantly, it is not a good argument to say that it is ok for Foxnews to be spouting propaganda just because other networks transgress.

“Discovery into Fox has proven that from the top of the organization to the bottom, Fox always knew the absurdity of the Dominion ‘stolen election’ story.”

They admitted it was. Remember during the lawsuit they got all the emails from all the Foxnews hosts and executives, who all knew that what they were saying on air was false.

"The overall impression you get, when you read the omitted text, is that these people were night after night, day after day, promoting theories that were ridiculous and that had been rejected by the courts. And there really was no support for them other than a couple of crackpots."

Carry on. Alll lie at some point Clinton Biden ommamma , carry on so tiresome
My granny says that Rom Paul never lied, so we should put him in the presidential spot. That is what we need around us….people and networks that just do not lie. Nirvana. Ahh liberal mantra, Nirvana. Perfection.
But golly, what do we do when we come face-to-face with Xi or with Putin and we have to lie. How do you fellas decide when the lie is good and a lie is bad? How do you know what is behind the lies? What if fox was asked by Trump to tell a certain lie to keep a secret. ?
Suzanne Ann would say we would all be told about the secret in advance and decide if Trump should tell a lie or not. It is so silly battering with you people.

What if fox was asked by Trump to tell a certain lie to keep a secret. ?

Are you suggesting that Trump told Foxnews to lie about election integrity, to convince its loyal viewers that elections were stolen and compromised by Venezuela, and that's why they did it? Why would he ask them to do that? Why would they go along with it?

It sure sounds like you're describing state-run propaganda.
