Free speech, Vance and common ground?

Report those who celebrate Charlie Kirk death to employers, Vance says.

So, Kirk can say what he wants, because that is free speech; the second holiest of US grails (after owning guns… which is getting politically ironic), but one can’t delight in a certain demise, because that is offensive?

Now, as someone who doesn’t believe in killling people for what they say, and as someone who believes everything should and can be said; certainly in the context of humor, and someone who wouldn’t celebrate a killing, unless I could provoke someone by doing so, there seems to be a bit of hypocrisy in the use of the term free speech.

Murdering Bin Laden… celebrate… although as a criminal he should have been brought to justice… fine… seemingly.

Celebrating Israel’s ethnic cleansing… fine… even though those children did nothing but snotter and fart…

The killing of democrats… fine… shrugged off…

The killing of Kirk… oh… don’t dare say something nasty! You’ll get reported!!!

You do all realise that this is going to rip your society in two, don’t you?
Deep down, you republicans (most democrats are getting there) know this double-standard is not right. Deep down, in the cockles of your bowels, you feel slightly “off”.

That feeling, that you blame on the shrimp you ate for lunch, is a nagging conscience, telling you that you are wrong and that it’s rotting your system from the inside out. And not just the system of “country”.

If you can’t see right from wrong, can’t point out hypocrisy from both sides of the political divide and can’t find middle ground in political debate, your country will go down the flusher.

If one side is completely right and the other side is completely wrong, you must comprehend that neither side is correct.

Whoa buddy!

When I said 'free speech' I definitely didn't mean saying a bunch of stuff I disagreed with, alright. Don't play billshat and point out my own lies with facts. I'll just call you a liar with no facts and leave it at that.

Jonathan Pie on this very topic.

It is bloody time for all to seek the middle ground.
Instead of listening to Vance as he pulls false statistics from his arse.

Seems to be less and less from the ultrarightwingnut crowd.
I think they know their desire to destroy democracy is working and Trump gets closer and closer to openly declaring himself King Trump or Emperor Trump so they are quite in breathless expectation of a new dictatorship.

No one here is ultra right wing nuts, we’re just conservative Republicans. That is a very fringe group in the party unlike the far left in the Democratic Party. Using this and other terms convinces others of this and puts people in danger just like Charlie Kirk. The rest is just stupid talk like hitler, nazis, ultrarightwingnuts, leading to more left violence! The reason no one is posting in this thread is it’s bs from a bs news source that British patriots are forced to pay for with their tax dollars. Let’s see how things work out for starmer over the next month with his country killing rules.

We tend not to use dollars in Britain.

And your time is probably better spent dealing with the problems your side of the pond (of which there are a great many).

Maybe you should try it, bye. You are dealing with the same things and worse off with them. Did you see the March and tax dollars is how I heard a British person explain it.

Don't run Mike, I was going to lecture you on how the UK has a grown up understanding of free speech and how we don't have mass school shootings every other Thursday and can't buy assault rifles in a local supermarket when we pop in to buy some cheese.

I broke Mike. 😲

No, you just stab everyone. The fact you don’t have guns makes the people a slave to the government there. Did you really just say a grown up understanding of free speech😂, what a joke. At one time you might have, now your government uses it as a form of control and fear so they can do and push whatever they want, sad and pathetic. Do you think Starmer and others are getting kickbacks?

Dude, you've slipped down a rabbit hole of fake news.

Get out now, run for the hills. It's your only chance.

I don’t know what you mean by that. We also can’t buy assault rifles, their simply semi automatic rifles dress up like many other rifles like a 22 or most pistols.

Yep, that’s why your streets were packed by patriots fed up with these things.
