the science community can't even agree if the planet is heating up or cooling down..! the ice age was around 2 million years ago and no humans could be blamed for that and yet is still happened..! the earths' weather is not consistent; isn't global warming just a natural state of our earths life cycle?

Its pouring and I'm sick of the grey weather... we're all grumpy from lack of sunshine vitamin.

Maybe we can get an honest no nonsense straight scientific answer here.
I understand there are lots of theories on how to slow it but has anyone ever had a serious idea about how to reverse global warming?

There is a lot of research being done into combating what the scientific community see as the cause of global warming - excess carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. 'Carbon sequestion' is the act of taking carbon from the atmospheric carbon dioxide and storing it in the deep ocean. Carbon dioxide is naturally taken in at the surface in areas of the ocean where phytoplankton exist - these miniscule plants use it along with sunlight to produce energy via photosynthesis. The more phytoplankton, the greater the amount of carbon dioxide taken in from the atmosphere.
Field experiments have been performed in which a huge growth of phytoplankton in a patch of the ocean is stimulated by adding necessary nutrients in at the ocean surface. Measurements show that a decrease in atmospheric carbon dioxide is indeed observed. However, what also happens is an increase of dimethyl sulphide (DMS), produced by the increase in phytoplankton grazing, that is given out from the ocean to the atmosphere. Then, this DMS ultimately leads to more cloud condensation nuclei in the atmosphere, which basically means more clouds, which means more sunlight reflected back out to space, and therefore a global cooling effect.
However, more clouds means more rain, and when it rains over the oceans, this leads to fresh water at the surface. This in turn reduces the amount of carbon dioxide that can be taken down from the atmosphere into the ocean and therefore acting against the carbon sequestion plan's initial purpose.
We only have a very sketchy idea of to what degree all these processes interact, and inevitably there will be unforseen processes or reactions overlooked.
So in my opinion, trying to fix the atmosphere is a BAD IDEA, as humans will never be clever enough to be able to predict how it will react. I think the only way forward is to limit our impact on the Earth's system, otherwise it may decide to through us off the ride.

As for the cause...
Well, it's my guess there are multiple causes, and I don't give a damn.
Yes, it's a pity the ice-caps are a-meltin' and it's tragic that whole islands are sinking (or drowning, or whatever islands do that disappear into the sea), but hey... We've got plenty of room for the inhabitants here in Europe!
