Good thing: It's fun.
The greenies were having an anti GE protest in Auckland NZ, so we went along to counter. The green movement is a magnet for lefty type organisations and to a large extent has been hijacked by them, at the protest were, The Workers Socialist Party, Laila Harre, commies, CTU etc.
There was a great deal of anti US sentiment, the guy on stage was trying to whip the crowd into a frenzy with comments such as..."George Bushes name starts with G E".
The march started, from Aotea Sq then down Queen St, in order to cover as much ground as possible we split our group into two. Four of us...versus 8000 greenies, myself and Kyle lead them down Queen St, good thing they were all behind us so couldn't see what we had on our signs, hehe.
There was some lack of cohesion in their protest, half of them were chanting "Keep it in the Lab" to which the other half replied "BURN the Lab".
Naturally our peaceful counter protest was too much for the greenies who were only too ready to resort to force in order to try and shut us down, there was foul language (which would get me banned if I were to repeat it here) but there were also rocks and branches (more like sticks and stones really) thrown at us, and a whislte was blown into a loud hailer which was directed at us at ear damaging volumes. Don't the greenies know noise is a form of pollution? Hypocrites.
Anyway we kicked commie greenie ass (metaphorically) that day by making a principled stand for individual freedom and property rights...plus had some fun.

I remember in the 1980s, when Thatcher (MSDIP) visited Glasgow. There was a massive demonstration in the centre of the city - 10s of thousands of people.
I was in the middle of all this, when I realised that the guy standing next to me was holding up a pro-Thatcher placard - with something like 'No U-Turn' on it. A few other people noticed the guy at the same time (he had probably just put the placard up), and I think he realised that it was time to make a hasty retreat, seeing as how he was slightly outnumbered.
There was also a guy who came to all the anti-war demonstrations with a union jack and a placard saying something like 'Support our brave troops' - he just got ignored.
I have to say, I have a bit of respect for people who do this - they must be bonkers though.

You appear to be a classic example of the compulsive protester; a person with a uncontrollable urge to protest just for the sake of it regardless of cause or content.
