Finally, some government spending that I can get "behind". In 2011, the National Institute of Health spent $592,527 of our tax dollar money to better understand why chimps throw their poo.

The article is attacking government spending, but I say this may give us a much needed glimpse into the minds of men such a Boehner and Harry Reid. What exactly makes them dysfunctional?

Wasteful spending on monkeys and their poop? I'm not suprised. This is what happens when jobs depend on this wasteful spending, and our elected officals are reelected, because the folks back home know know the reelected lawmaker has the senoirity and political tools to "bring home the bacon" to their state. That's the way our system works.

Now, on a more inspiring note, this just in from the NHL. Chicago 3 Boston 1 😀

This has nothing to do with pork barrel politics, really. The article mentions the National Institutes of Health (a federal institution), which is one of the largest institutions in the world that fund biomedical research. It has been responsible for wasteful spending such as "... the IRP [part of the NIoH] is responsible for many scientific accomplishments, including the discovery of fluoride to prevent tooth decay, the use of lithium to manage bipolar disorder, and the creation of vaccines against hepatitis, Haemophilus influenzae (HIB), and human papillomavirus.[6]" (from Wikipedia)

Because of the way science works, much of the research they fund isn't going to have much use, and some of it is going to be very useful.
